Pray Until Something Happens Story

Last weeks winner of 3 books, DVD, candle jars and seeds is Kim- you posted on 2014/09/18 at 4:24 PM.

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with bright light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man He had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might. This, the man did, day after day.

For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down with his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.

Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, the Adversary decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the man’s weary mind: “You’ve been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn’t budged. Why kill yourself over this? You’re never going to move it” —thus, giving the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

“Why kill myself over this?” he thought. “I’ll just put in my time, giving just the minimum effort and that’ll be good enough.” And that’s just what he planned to do— until one day he decided to make it a matter of prayer and take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. “Lord” he said, “I’ve labored long and hard in Your service, putting all my strength to do that which You’ve asked. Yet, after all this time, I haven’t even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What’s wrong? Why am I failing?”

The Lord responded compassionately,

“My friend, when I asked you to serve Me— you accepted. I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all your strength— which you’ve done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me— with your strength spent, thinking that you’ve failed. But is that really so?”

“Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscular. Your back sinew is mighty. Your hands are callused from the constant pressure;and your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you’ve grown much and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. Yet you haven’t moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. This you’ve done. I, my friend, will now move the rock.”

At times, when we hear from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants. What God ACTUALLY wants is just simple OBEDIENCE and FAITH IN HIM. By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it’s still God who moves the mountains.

P.U.S.H. = Pray Until Something Happens! When everything seems to go wrong, just P.U.S.H. … When the job gets you down, P.U.S.H. … When people don’t react the way you think they should, P.U.S.H. … When your money looks funny and the bills are due, P.U.S.H. … When people just don’t understand you, just P.U.S.H.

What mountain do you need GOD to move? Your finances? Job? A relationship? Sickness? Your ministry? Tell me in the comment section below. Your request will enter your name to win this cornucopia full of fresh fall gourds, some from my very own garden. Cornucopia means, horn of plenty or abundance of something. May the Lord bless you abundantly. Last week we prayed for your prayer requests. Many answered prayers have been coming in!! Thank You Lord! We need each other! The power of prayer is incredible.

Sharon...this is perfect!!! (Of course it is...because God's timing is always perfect!!) Tonight I host an "IF:Pray" gathering in my home. (I'm a local leader with "IF:Gatherings", under the founder/visionary Jennie Allen.) I am going to share this illustration with all who come. May we not grow weary in prayer, service, ministry etc... but may we obediently respond to what the Lord asks of us, trusting He is working in ways we cannot see.

    Love you my friend,

    • Praise the Lord Joy!He's amazing me, more than ever! XOXOX

What a great and timely illustration. Through some very unique circumstances, I only have two weeks left at my current job. I need prayer for the Lord to show me whether or not to bring my son home from school and homeschool him (he's a Junior and we homeschooled up until his Freshman year), OR will He provide the job I need? Thank you for praying with me!

    • Teresa said:

Just an update...the day after I posted this prayer request, the Lord answered our prayer. Someone anonymously donated a large sum of money and put it in our son's school account. We will not need to pull him out! PTL!

      • Halleluyah! I am so happy to hear this testimony! Keep trusting the Lord Teresa! :)

I would love see a couple of prayers answered. My husband either needs a new job or a better attitude about the one he has. Long story but it would be nice for him to get a new job. Another request is that we need 19k to pay a debt that we have. Two things I have been praying for a long time.

    • Father in Heaven, we ask that You would open up the door for Nanci's husband to have a new job. We ask that you would give them exceedingly and abundantly more than they can ask or think in this time. Bring them into alignment with Your word in every day and fill them afresh with Your joy!

I would deeply appreciate prayers. I previously had breast cancer and now several scans show a growth in my left lung. I will see a surgeon this week after being advised to have the area in the lung removed. I do pray for healing but most of all that others can see God's glory through it all.

You are mighty to save and believe you have all authority in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, so we ask that your will would be done as it is in heaven! That you would bless this woman with full healing to the GLORY of your NAME! We believe that you will be honored in her faith. Give her strength to PUSH!!! Astound the doctors and make this a testimony that goes out into all the nations of your faithfulness.

Love, love, LOVE this blog. I am on the verge of a huge breakthrough with my health, and it is all due to God sustaining me to have the faith to trust Him at His word when He told me He would heal me through natural alternatives about 8 years ago. I have been for about 8 years, and I'm starting to see breakthrough. Praise God for His faithfulness!!! The doctors wanted to replace my right knee, right hip and both shoulders, but God told me, "No! Trust Me". Soon I will be walking and moving like never before, and it's all because I trusted God to be faithful to His promises. About 3 years ago, God gave me Hebrews 11:11 (which basically says "God always keeps His promises") to sustain my hope in His promise. Every time I would become discouraged, the numbers 11 11 would show up in the most unusual places to give me hope that God will come through with His promise. I encourage all of you to trust God at His Word. If He has promised you something, it will come to pass. Keep

    • Lifting you up, Claudia! Lord, give Claudia a newfound servant love for her husband even when she doesn't see any fruit or progress. Give her the overwhelming, servant-hearted love Jesus had for us when he died on the cross so that she can love her husband even when they don't get along. Provide for her a job that would bless their family and bring glory to your name. Give her a JOY even in the midst of the struggle to PUSH...let her know that you are creating in her a beautiful heart that is faithful to you!!! When my back went out on May 30th God spoke so clearly the verses in Mark 11, 22“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23“Trulyf I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." And not just once. It came up several times over the course of a week. He is going to move this mountain of pain and fear in my life. I believe it. I'm waiting on Him and continuing to hope.

My husband and I have been praying for over 2 years about what God wants us to do- feel that it is more than what we are doing here. I just shared this email with him to encourage him to keep pushing. Thank you for sharing your heart!

Please, pray for my son Ryan. I'm battle worn and weary. I have so much to be thankful for and I am most grateful. I need strength and discernment as I seek to follow the Lord's will in my life.

  • I can feel stronger by praying for my granddaughter who is supposed to be born in January. We found out she has Trisome 18. She will probably die after birth. I would like God to move this mountain, but if the mountain he wants to move is that I trust in Him for the strength to get through this, so be it. I need Him.

    • Oh Anne, my heart goes out to you and your family in this struggle. He is faithful! Lord, we pray for a supernatural, beautiful miracle over Anne's grandaughter's life. We know that you have planted this life within and you are ABLE to heal any chromosomal imperfection in the name of Jesus! We ask for perfect alignment of each chromosome. That you would touch this little soul and heal it for the glory of Your Name!! Lord, give Anne the steadfastness to PUSH even when the outcome seems impossible. Create in her a heart that leans only upon you in times of trouble. In JESUS' name, amen! Hugs!!!

I am clinging to His promises and claim them for my husband, our sons and for myself. God is always faithful, and I yield my will to His. God bless you for your ministry and your encouraging words.

    • Marie, I will be praying that you have the strength PUSH even in the midst of scary tests and diagnosis and that our Lord would love on you and give you comfort. Lord, you are MAKER and HEALER and we believe that you have all authority to bring this MRI back completely normal. That you would relieve Marie's husband of any neurological issues he's having all to the glory of your Son... "At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth." • Thank you for sharing this MT. James 1:19-20 tells us, "Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God." You are an over-comer of all of this in Christ! Father in Heaven, let MT know that she has freedom from these things in You because of Your death on the cross and resurrection. Relationship--just be able to reach others and not be afraid to tell them about Jesus and what he has done for me, to be bolder than I am already. Sickness - only that I will be able to use these "thorns" to win others, for there are always others worse off...I can still see, breathe, walk, talk, hear and claim Jesus as my Savior! God Bless you Sharon!

Jesus keeps me sane, this I say with all truthfulness. I cannot do this life without Jesus, just wondering though how many more years we will struggle with all of this. I just need prayer, you do not need to enter me in the drawing. Thank you!

Joanna, I am praying that God lead you to a new "job" and that He allow you to use your gifts to serve Him in whatever vocation you are working in! Amen!

    • We will PUSH for the best possible job that the Lord can give to you Joanna! Father, I pray that You would prepare Joanna for the next step and the job that You have for her. Show her the steps that she is supposed to take in order to walk into her calling. Open the doors that You have for her Father- in Jesus' name- amen!

Sharon, your thoughts today have given me hope. I have been VERY impatient lately and have been asking God each day to help me to be patient with others, especially those closest to my heart. I am going to pray each day that the Lord teach me and help me to be patient and I am going to pray until something happens! Would you pray for me as well? God bless!

    • Yes Mary! I will stand in agreement with you sister! Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” As the Holy Spirit to give you a fresh touch of His power and that all of the fruits of His presence in you would be what come out- all day, every day! Jesus loves you! He is with you and will say yes to the good desires that He places in your heart- especially to be more patient. :) Grace to you!

Financial crisis. We've filed for bankruptcy to keep from losing everything but now the payment I have to make each month will barely leave us with enough to eat and keep the lights on. I commute 50miles each day for work and our three kids keep us busy beyond that. My youngest has cerebral palsy and learning delays. My oldest son had surgery for a football injury yesterday...

    • Father, in Jesus' name, I ask that You would minister to Sarah and her family by Your Holy Spirit in these trials! Give her family every, single bit of money and resources that they need in this time and for the rest of their lives. Bring healing to her children in every way!! You have ALL power and authority in Heaven and on Earth- so we take faith and trust You to bring healing. Father I pray that where the enemy has tried to steal from them- that You would show them the path of restoration and bring it all back to them 100 fold!

I feel like I'm "stuck" between a rock and a difficult place right now. I lost 2 wonderful jobs in 1 year.... 6 months apart....currently unemployed, searching for work as a RN. I was terminated from my last job as Hospice RN due to "service failure" as a result of my hearing disability ( my new manager, whom I've already forgiven, stated a month prior to my termination that if she had known I had a hearing disability when they interviewed me back in December she wouldn't have hired me ). I was crushed and emotionally hurt by this. I went above and beyond for this employer and my hospice patients. A week later my husband and I received notice from our Stafford home renter that she was giving her 30 day's notice to move out. With me being unemployed, we made a quick financial decision to downsize and move out of our Fredericksburg home back to our Stafford home ( still in the process of completing the move and getting our Fredericksburg home ready to put up for sale ) My marriage has been quite a challenge for the past 7 years as well....husband is quick to anger, impatient. I'm a very forgiving loving woman but can't ignore the profound effect it has had on me and my 4 daughters. I have faith and look up to God daily, asking Him to show me the way. Sometimes I just feel lost.

    • Hi Margaret! Thank-you for sharing!
Father, in Jesus' name I ask that You would come through quickly in Margaret's life and family. You are all-powerful and on the Throne- right now! Your leadership is perfect and You will provide for all of their needs. I ask that her marriage would be healed as well as the girls' relationship with their Father. I lift her up to you with each of else important cares in her life and ask for a fresh wave of Your healing, freedom, and deliverance to be poured over them. Amen!

Our mountain is caring for elderly parents who don't think they need caring for -- alzheimer's and physical health. We are either laughing or crying - sometimes at the same time!! But definitely praying all the time too.

    • Praying for you all to have power and might in this season Laurie! I know this must be very challenging for you all- but remember that the Lord will always pull you through! He is with you. Blessings to you and your family sister!

Sharon you are wonderful. I so love your posts, each one, and I wish that someday we could meet!!! The mountain that tugs at my heart is my youngest son, Jonathan, who is a prodigal, and a talented artist with the soul of a philosopher who has just begun college. He is filled with anxiety, stress, and negativity and I feel that things are constantly thrown in his path to cast doubt. I love this PUSH concept. Thank you so much for your servant's heart and love.

    • Thank you Stephanie! I would love to meet you as well!
I lift up Jonathan right now to the Throne of Grace and pray that his life would be mightily snatched from the fire right now. That all deception from the enemy of his soul would be removed and that his eyes would be filled with Holy light! I pray that all of his anxiety, stress, and negatively would be totally removed! I pray for strength over Stephanie as she stands firm in You to see this transformation. Help her Father to wait patiently- but be strongly persistent in prayer. You hear our every cry and move at the sound of our voices! In Jesus' name, amen!

I need that P.U.S.H. in the area of my health, my finances and in finding acceptable child care for my son and especially in my attitude. Recently diagnosed and treated for uterine cancer my 52 year old self is tired but must go back to work soon. I have kept my 4 years old son home with me for the past few weeks which has had its ups and downs. (mostly ups but still very tiring). But most importantly I need to find a church home where we can worship and serve. Thank you for your devotion. It was on point.

I pray for God to remove and deliver me totally and completely from worry, fear, pride, arrogance, judgemental attitude, anger, gossiping , belittling others- the list goes on and on.
