My Preacher Man

Dale In the Barn

Someone was knocking loudly at my front door. I opened it and a man that I had never seen before stood staring at me. Solemnly he said, “Is the preacher man home?” I smiled and confidently said, “I’m sorry, no preacher lives here.” He insisted that one did live here. Then he gave me the story.

He told me that he had been to our house a year ago looking for a man that lived here 20 years ago. That’s when he met the preacher man, he told him the previous owner no longer lived here and had died years ago.

The stranger in my doorway then proceeded to tell me that it was no accident that he came to our house that day.  He was at a breaking point in his life and he was about to lose a lot. The man who lived here spoke into his life and said things that only God could have known he needed to hear. He said that his life turned around after that day and that he was here to say, thank you to that man.

After hearing the story, I knew without a doubt my husband was indeed, the preacher man.

It is a typical day to see Dale outside talking to people I’ve never seen before on our property. Stranger’s cars seem to consistently break down right in our driveway. Dale always knows it is an assignment from the Lord. I could write a book about all the people that have broken down here. While he helps them get their car working he’s ministering God’s love and His Word.

The man standing in front of me,  had been a broken down  man the year before. Dale gave him Spirit filled wisdom that helped him rebuild the broken parts of his life. I told him that the preacher man was outside working in the barn, I led him to Dale. They talked for a couple of hours and then the man left. Dale came in for lunch and didn’t say much about it until I asked him about the man.
It was just another day on the Glasgow Farm to Dale, ministering to strangers God sends to him.
I wonder what strangers would call me after one encounter with them.

Matthew 25:31-40 (NKJV)
“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”
