A Season to Work

IMG_7536When we were raising our five daughters, we worked hard every day. I thought for sure the next season of life would be easier.  You know… –less work.

I’ve come to realize that as long as I have life in this body, it will be a season to work.  We have a friend on the farm helping  today (Luciano) who just said, “If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space!” Hehe, he’s a pastor and also lives life to the fullest capacity! When he has nothing left to give, God refuels him to give even more.

My husband and I take off one day of week to rest.  Six days a week we go hard, really hard.

In the past month I’ve traveled and spoke EVERY week.  And, we’ve hosted a wedding on our farm EVERY weekend. . .

The harvest is SO ripe, I get to see people coming to Christ and surrendering all- it's the greatest thing in all the world

The harvest is SO ripe. I get to see people coming to Christ and surrendering all.  It’s the greatest thing in all the world.  I wouldn’t want to do anything else!

Joel 3:13 “Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Go in, tread, for the winepress is full. The vats overflow…”

What a blessing to get to minister

The living Word of God pours out like a fire hydrant on dry bones! Oh to witness what God does with His Word.  Indescribable.

We've had two people come to Christ on our farm at weddings! We are now praying with every family who gets married here. Many who come here don't know Jesus.

We have a wedding this year EVERY weekend except August 1, Christmas and Thanksgiving!  Yeah… not one wedding passes without us praying for someone or many. After praying for the bride and bridesmaids at one wedding, the word got out that my husband and I were ministers and all throughout the reception we had a constant flow of people coming to us for personal prayer. Can it get any better than that?

The work on a farm never stops.  Never.

Gal 6:9, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Beautiful set Free hosted a benefit dinner in our barn for Brothel's in the Red Zone of India. Three children from India rescued from the effects of suffering and sex slavery came to join us all the way from India and led us in worship, singing, "There is power in the Name of Jesus...Breaking every chain...There's an army rising up..."

Going out now to mow grass for this weekend’s wedding.  When that’s finished, I’ll finish preparing for Sunday’s speaking event in Jonestown, PA.

Have a blessed weekend! If it’s a season of work for you, I pray God gives you what you need to accomplish it all! Col 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men…”

  1. Thank you for the blessing of this post. Our new hobby farm venture is a lot of work, but it is so rewarding.mmthis is such a blessing. May you be blessed in your work. Praise God for his bountiful blessings to us all.

Thank you for this post. It is a season of work, and exhausting work raising our two grandchildren in our mid fifties. They have neglect and trauma issues from before our home, and the rage that comes with it. We are praying over them, and the work to manage them is very tough. We were led to an amazing Godly Christian adoption counselor, and she is very insightful, and helpful. I know without a doubt we are to do this, but this was the encouragement I needed to read today, almost like my portion of daily bread.

  3. Love this post and your pics!! I am a Mom to 5 and a farmer’s wife too…we’re knee deep in parenting with the oldest being 12, but wanted to thank you for the reminder that things won’t get easier, they’ll just look different. The work truly never does end, but thankful God is here to lead us and equip us. And recharge us and fill in the gaps too!! Blessings to you!! You’ll have to get to Iowa sometime, we’d love to see you!! I am looking forward to seeing you at She Speaks!

  4. The LORD has used your faith, joy and devotion to his service to encourage me today. Joel 3:13 is just the motivation i needed to hear to put my current trial in perspective!

  5. Tena Snider says:

It’s good to see that such a wonderful family lives behind the big green barn. We are neighbors who live closer to Poplar on Hartwood. We only have 4 girls (and 5 boys). We are expecting our 4th grandbaby is November. This season of life is so full!

  6. Through reading your past blogs/and Facebook….I have watched your family get that barn of yours ready for weddings. Those few simple family weddings turned into so much more than you ever thought didn’t it.!! God is providing you income AND an OPPORTUNITY to reach
out to others as they use your barn/home. Don’t forget to prayer walk (if you haven’t already) your barn and property. Let’s get more people for His kingdom! I’ll be watching as He gives you MORE ideas!! Love you sister!
