You Provide the Fire-I’ll Provide the Sacrifice

Speaking at P31 Conference- “The Cost of the Call”

Not an ounce of energy was left in my body after six weeks of traveling and speaking. I had four hours of sleep the night before and ministered all day.  My eyes were so heavy.  I couldn’t imagine speaking that night- but I was the speaker.

I went to my room, opened the Word and desperately asked Him to fill me.  I was in Luke 6. “Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God.  And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself… And He came down with them and stood on a level place with the crowd of disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all. Then He lifted up His eyes toward the disciples, and said: Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled…”

Oh- a fire was kindled in my spirit.

Jesus had been ministering constantly; teaching the kingdom of Heaven and healing the sick. Being fully God and fully man, His flesh was exhausted (like mine).  Yet He knew the only way to be filled is to go to the power source.  So, that He did— all night long! ALL NIGHT LONG!

With no sleep, the next morning He gives His greatest sermon ever!

I couldn’t contain my excitement when I read it. I started to pace the floor, digesting every morsel.

It had been a rough week.  I was desperate for Jesus wholeheartedly.  He was the only one who could provide my greatest need.  I was poor in spirit and I WOULD receive the kingdom of God. I was hungry for His glory, His presence, His wisdom—everything He had.

I paced the floor in prayer.  Pretty soon I started jumping up and down.  I walked out of my room more full than when I entered.  He showed me that all I needed was to be poor and hungry in the spirit and the kingdom of God would be mine and I would be filled.

I walked out of my room- ON FIRE!

After the message that night, women received Christ as their personal savior.  People were healed from the inside out.  Women who hungered for more of God didn’t want to leave the altar! They wanted everything He had and He graciously filled us all. Oh my goodness, I wish you had been there.

I got back to my room and it was 1:00 AM.  Was I exhausted? No- I fell before the Lord and said, now I know why you stayed up all night long—I want more of YOU! Give me all you’ve got Lord! Fill me up!

You provide the fire—I’ll provide the sacrifice!!

  1. Sharon,
I have had two exhausting weeks in a roll and was seeking wholeness as well. Thank you for reminding me who the source is in making us complete! Planning on reading and seeking His presence today!

  2. Our portion is to hunger and thirst for the Lord. His part is to fill us in our spirit to experience His life and light. We are vessels met to be filled to overflowing with the living water He gives. Your experience demonstrates how He longs to permeate our being and experience His presence. I pray you continue to be in the enjoyment of Jesus and bringing light to those who are seeking Him.

  3. Absolutely love this Sharon!! As a mom and farmer’s wife I’ve been exhausted and feeling empty this last week as harvest drags on. Just earlier today God was whispering to me about taking care of myself so I could take care of everyone else and just now echoed His words! Thinking He’s let me get exhausted so I have no choice of where to turn!! Amazed at His timing too – gearing up to speak/share next Monday!! Honestly I was a bit nervous and worried about this, but your words here from The Word have me excited as well!! Thank you and God bless!!

    • Amen Jill!! I was traveling and speaking when I wrote this post and didn’t have the ability to respond. I prayed for you that Monday. I pray the Lord did a mighty work through you! Love you!!

    Dear Sharon,
You are a real blessing in my life. You are so full of the spirit and I can just fill how you must fill. Thank you for keeping me encouraged.
    I love you,
    Trudy

  5. Sharon…this is so in tune with an illustration our Pastor gave on Sunday I can hardly believe it!!!! Pastor Rick flew to Cyprus to help lead Pastors and the day he was to teach for 6 hours he was exhausted from the change of time, flight etc… Not only that, but the night before he clock watched almost all night, unable to fall asleep. He surrendered it all to the Lord knowing that on his own he had no strength. He prayed and read His Word. The next day, the event was incredible. The Lord gave him more power than he could imagine!

You my friend, are a living example of a “branch” abiding in the Vine. It would be impossible to keep up your pace without God. With any bush/tree etc…the common denominator for the branch and vine is the sap. As you remain and abide in Christ, His power/juice flows through you to give you the energy and strength you need. It’s Jesus juice! Day by day you go from strength to strength as you continue to abide in Him. As you are obedient to the Lord you also are experiencing His promise of bearing “much fruit”. Thanks for living a life that illustrates this Truth. Abiding is the key. Don’t let anything steal that quiet, personal time with Him. We get to see the beautiful outward evidence of your inward abiding. Thank you for making Scripture alive. Praying you will continue to experience His powerful infilling. May you be drinking from your saucer ’cause your cup has overflowed!

Love you much my friend. Rejoicing with you in all the Lord is doing!
    Hugs,
    Joy

Women accepted Christ! Wow!!! Isn’t it a wonderful feeling to be used for The Lord!

  7. Sharon, you are anointed. Thank you for being the sacrifice to set so many of our hearts aflame for Jesus!

  8. O, I love this sweet revelation!!!!! Thank you. From a mother who is frequently more attracted to her sleep, than getting up in the morning to get in the word. He is nudging my heart that I need to sit first and prepare for the day.
And I wanted to say thank you for speaking at our conference a while back. I have been eating God’s word, and it has been coming alive for me. God has used you to bless me.
